nar|cis|sus «nahr SIHS uhs», noun, plural -cis|sus|es, -cis|si «-SIHS y».

2. its flower.
[< Latin narcissus < Greek nárkissos, associated by folk etymology (from the sedative effect of the plant) with Greek nárkē numbness]
Usage In spoken English an unchanged plural, narcissus, is often used, presumably to avoid the excessive sibilance of narcissuses.
